Red Hat Satellite 6.3.5 was released last week and you can find out all about it at the official blog post Red Hat Blog – Red Hat Satellite 6.3.5 is now generally available .
Out now – @RedHatSatellite 6.3.5. “The main driver for the 6.3.5 release is Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.6 compatibility updates and ongoing performance and stability improvements.” https://t.co/b0PJp9f0K8
As per the posting, you will need to upgrade to Satellite 6.3.5 if you don’t want to move to Satellite 6.4 but want to run your Satellite instance on RHEL 7.6. Running on RHEL 7.6 will provide the latest O/S security errata and bugfixes and is therefore highly recommended. Already running Satellite 6.3.3 on RHEL 7.5? The Satellite upgrade can be managed with the ‘foreman-maintain’ script and the Capsule with the usual yum
and satellite-installer
commands. There’s one thing to be aware of if you’ve been maintaining a Satellite instance since 6.0.x or 6.1.x.
- Satellite upgrade fails on dependency for ant-junit
- Bug 1644354 – [RHEL 7.6] Satellite Update failed due to dependency issue Package: ant-junit-1.9.2-9.el7.noarch Requires: ant = 1.9.2-9.el7
Roadmap
Satellite 6.3 should continue to be supported until approximately September 2019 according to the official Red Hat Satellite Product Life Cycle so we may see one or two more point releases between now and then. Satellite 6.4 is available now and Satellite 6.5 is slated for Spring 2019.
